Marna Wul

Marna Wal is the eldest daughter of five in a South Sudanese refugee/immigrant family. Her mother was already six months pregnant with her when she made her journey to America. Marna was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1995 and eventually moved and grew up in the state of Minnesota.

Marna matriculated through school in Minnesota and precured a bachelor’s degree in Global Studies in Human Rights in Justice with a focus on Africa as well as a Spanish Studies minor in the spring of 2018 at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

After graduation, Marna worked in college access with high school students and shortly thereafter worked in community organizing.

Today, Marna is pursuing a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL. She hopes to use her degree to help the social and personal needs of refugees and immigrants here in the states and abroad
